Common use of Maximum Legal Rate Clause in Contracts

Maximum Legal Rate. It is the intent of the Lender and Borrower that in no event shall such interest be payable at a rate in excess of the maximum rate permitted by applicable law (the "Maximum Legal Rate"). If this Note is for a personal loan of less than $2,500,000 and is secured primarily by a one-to-four-family residence, the interest rate shall not exceed 16%.
