Negotiation Release Time Clause Samples
The Negotiation Release Time clause defines the specific period during which parties are permitted to negotiate and finalize the terms of an agreement before being released from any exclusivity or negotiation obligations. Typically, this clause sets a clear deadline by which negotiations must be concluded, after which either party may pursue alternative opportunities or partners without penalty. Its core practical function is to prevent indefinite negotiations, ensuring that both parties have a defined timeframe to reach an agreement or move on, thereby promoting efficiency and reducing uncertainty.
Negotiation Release Time. The District shall grant release time with pay for up to a maximum of four (4) representatives to participate in contract negotiations with the District, consisting of up to one (1) employee representative per job classification family represented (food service, maintenance, transportation, custodial).

Negotiation Release Time. The members of the CSEA negotiation teams shall be granted release time with pay to participate in contract negotiations with District officials. Members so released shall be carried with pay for the length of the actual bargaining sessions, or the number of hours they are scheduled to work, whichever is less. (e.g. paid committee members may be comprised of one patrol officer from each shift 7-3, 3-11 and 11-7 and one other officer not assigned to a patrol shift.) Members shall be carried time for time on their scheduled duty days. Participation in bargaining on non- duty days will not be compensated.

The Director of Labor Relations shall authorize additional reasonable release time hours related to bargaining as required.
