Common use of Notification and Reporting of Release Time Clause in Contracts

Notification and Reporting of Release Time. Union officers, stewards and negotiating team members must notify their supervisors before performing any representational activities that will take them away from work for a period of longer than fifteen (15) minutes, and all release time must be recorded on the employee’s time sheet. Supervisors may deny a request for release time and/or request that the employee seek a delay of the meeting for which release time is sought if the employee’s presence is necessary to complete a time-sensitive assignment. The University and the Union agree to develop a handout to assist employees in identifying what activities should be recorded as release time and how to correctly record the time on the electronic timesheet.
