Common use of Notification of Prescription Medications/Narcotics Clause in Contracts

Notification of Prescription Medications/Narcotics. Employees shall be required to notify the Department Head when under a course of treatment that includes prescription narcotics. In such case, the employee shall provide notification from the employee’s physician that he/she has the ability to safely perform the essential functions of his/her position in light of the prescription medication. Such notification shall not disclose medical information, including the prescription drug itself, which shall be confidential and not subject to such disclosure, except that such shall be disclosed to the City’s Medical Review Officer, who shall be a physician designated by the City and having expertise in occupational medicine, when so required by the Employer to do so.
