A Nurse practitioner is authorised to function autonomously and collaboratively in an advanced and extended clinical role. A.6.1 Role of a licensed Nurse practitioner (a) The nurse practitioner is able to assess and manage the care of clients/residents using nursing knowledge and skills. It is dynamic practice that incorporates application of high level knowledge and skills, beyond that required of a registered nurse /midwife in extended practice across stable, unpredictable and complex situations. (b) The nurse practitioner role is grounded in the nursing profession’s values, knowledge, theories and practice and provides innovative and flexible health care delivery that complements other health care providers.
