Common use of Occupational Health & Safety Committee (OHSC Clause in Contracts

Occupational Health & Safety Committee (OHSC. (i) The Employer shall abide by all applicable legislations. (ii) The Employer and the Association agree that they mutually desire to maintain standards of health and safety in the Home, in order to prevent accidents, injury and illness. (iii) Recognizing its responsibilities under the applicable legislation, the Employer agrees to accept as a member of its OHSC, one representative selected or appointed by the Association from the bargaining unit. (iv) Such committees shall identify potential dangers and hazards, institute means of improving Health and Safety programmes, and recommend actions to be taken to improve conditions relating to Occupational Health and Safety. (v) The Employer agrees to provide necessary information to enable the committee members to fulfil their function, including but not limited to the following: incident/ Accident report form required in s. 51, s.52 and s. 53 of the Act. The annual summary of data from WSIB relating to the number of workplace accident fatalities, the number of lost workday cases, the number of lost workdays, the number of non fatal cases that required medical aid without lost workdays, the incidence of occupational injuries, and such other data as the WSIB may decide to disclose. The Committee shall respect the confidentiality of the information. (vi) Meetings shall be held every third month. Dates will be determined by the co-chairs. The committees shall maintain minutes of all meetings and make the same available for review. (vii) All time spent by a member of the Occupational Health and Safety committee attending meetings of the committees, shall be deemed to be time worked for which she shall be paid by the Employer at her regular or premium rate, as may be proper, and she shall be entitled to such time from her work, as is necessary. (b) The Employer shall ensure an adequate supply of N95 masks and other pandemic plan event supplies required are available during a pandemic event. (c) The Employer shall use its best efforts to maintain an adequate supply of safety engineered sharps for blood drawing for residents requiring blood lab work.
