Common use of OFFICIAL UNIVERSITY CLOSURE Clause in Contracts

OFFICIAL UNIVERSITY CLOSURE. Should the University, or an area of the University, be officially closed temporarily due to environmental conditions, utility disruptions, road conditions, acts of God, or other reasons beyond the control of the employees covered by this Agreement, employees shall receive salary maintenance during the closure. These closures shall not be considered a University holiday as in Article 32. Those employees required to remain on duty to provide essential services shall be given the equivalent time off with such time off to be taken within the following calendar month. Should these employees be required to remain beyond their normal hours of work, the usual provisions for overtime would apply. Employees who are requested to report for work for an afternoon or night shift which commences during a closure shall receive equivalent time off for all hours worked on the shift, with such time off to be taken within the following calendar month.
