Leaves Sample Clauses
Leaves. Employees on an unpaid leave of absence for 21 calendar days or less are entitled to compensation for the paid holiday(s) which fall in the period commencing on the first day of the leave and ending on the day of return to work. The compensation will be:
i. by payment for day(s) in the leave of absence period, or;
ii. by time off in lieu following her return from the leave of absence.
Leaves. 17.1 Requests for Leave or Extension of Leave of One (1) Semester or More.
A. For a leave of one (1) semester or more, an employee shall make a written request not less than 120 days prior to the beginning of the proposed leave, if practicable.
B. For an extension of a leave of one (1) semester or more, an employee shall make a written request not less than sixty (60) days before the end of the leave, if practicable.
C. The University shall approve or deny such request in writing not later than thirty (30) days after receipt of the request.
D. An absence without approved leave or extension of leave shall subject the employee to the provisions of Article 16.
E. An employee's request for use of leave for an event covered by the provisions of the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) of 1993 (Public Law 103-3) shall be submitted and responded to in accordance with the provisions of Article 17.6 below.
Leaves. “Immediate family" in Article 15, unless defined otherwise, means the spouse or domestic partner of an employee, as well as the son, son-in-law, daughter, daughter-in-law, brother, brother in-law, sister, sister in-law, parent, grandparent, or grandchild of the employee or of the spouse or domestic partner of the employee, as well as any relative living in the immediate household of the employee.

Leaves. Xxxxxxxx Charter School certificated employees shall be entitled to the leaves that are outlined in Article XIX of this Agreement.
Leaves. Leaves provided under this Article are intended to meet the legitimate needs of employees. The use of leaves must be limited to instances of personal need and are not to be abused. Any abuses may be subject to the provisions of Article 11. Except in extenuating circumstances, leave categories may not be combined for a period of continuous absence.
Leaves. Section 1 Immediate Family Immediate Family - Immediate family shall include: current spouse, child, sibling, parent, grandparent, or grandchild. Family members named include teacher and/or the teacher’s spouse. Immediate Family also shall include any other person who qualifies by IRS regulation as a dependent or person placed in the household by the court. For bereavement only, the definition of the immediate family shall also include siblings of the teacher's current spouse, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law and grandchildren of spouse.

Upon determination that the involuntary non-renewal of employment contract(s) of certificated employee(s) will be necessary, certificated employee(s) not terminated shall be invited to apply for one (1)-year leaves of absence without pay. The Superintendent shall recommend favorable action to the Board for any such applicant whose position can be adequately filled from within the District if the granting of such leave should make it possible to grant a leave replacement contract to a qualified, terminated employee from the employment pool, referred to in Paragraph A.2.
