Leaves. Employees on an unpaid leave of absence for 21 calendar days or less are entitled to compensation for the paid holiday(s) which fall in the period commencing on the first day of the leave and ending on the day of return to work. The compensation will be:
i. by payment for day(s) in the leave of absence period, or;
ii. by time off in lieu following her return from the leave of absence.
Leaves. 17.1 Requests for Leave or Extension of Leave of One (1) Semester or More.
A. For a leave of one (1) semester or more, an employee shall make a written request not less than 120 days prior to the beginning of the proposed leave, if practicable.
B. For an extension of a leave of one (1) semester or more, an employee shall make a written request not less than sixty (60) days before the end of the leave, if practicable.
C. The University shall approve or deny such request in writing not later than thirty (30) days after receipt of the request.
D. An absence without approved leave or extension of leave shall subject the employee to the provisions of Article 16.
E. An employee's request for use of leave for an event covered by the provisions of the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) of 1993 (Public Law 103-3) shall be submitted and responded to in accordance with the provisions of Article 17.6 below.
Leaves. 1. Each person employed by the Board shall accrue fifteen (15) days Sick Leave with pay for each year of service, which shall be credited at the rate of one and one-fourth (1-1/4) days per month.
2. Sick Leave may be used for absence due to personal illness, pregnancy, injury, exposure to contagious disease that could be communicated to others, and for absence due to illness, injury or death in the employee's immediate family. "Immediate family" shall be defined as husband, wife, children, father, mother, brother, sister, grandparents, current father-in-law, current mother-in-law, current sister-in-law, current brother-in-law, grandchild, or any person residing in the bargaining unit member's home for whom the employee has assumed a reasonable responsibility for care. Additions to this list may be approved by the Superintendent. Unused Sick Leave shall be accumulative for the period of time that an employee works for the Board. Sick Leave accrual shall be unlimited. Sick Leave compensation shall be based upon an employee’s regularly assigned hours (i.e., it does not include any special or overtime assignments, including bus drivers’ field trips).
3. Any accumulated Sick Leave of a person separated from any other public service shall be transferable.
4. If an employee utilizes Sick Leave and is absent for more than four (4) consecutive work days, he/she must obtain medical certification from a health care provider substantiating the need for the leave of absence. Sick Leave shall be chargeable in half-day (1/2) increments, with the exception of Bus Drivers and Bus Attendants with regularly scheduled midday routes/runs for whom Sick Leave shall be chargeable in one-third (1/3) day increments.
5. If an employee exhausts his/her accrued sick leave, the Board will advance to him/her up to a maximum of five (5) days of sick leave, or the amount he/she can earn prior to June 30 of that school year, whichever is less. If the employee leaves the employment of the Board prior to repaying the advanced sick leave, the outstanding balance will be deducted from any final payments due to the employee by the Board.
Leaves. “Immediate family" in Article 15, unless defined otherwise, means the spouse or domestic partner of an employee, as well as the son, son-in-law, daughter, daughter-in-law, brother, brother in-law, sister, sister in-law, parent, grandparent, or grandchild of the employee or of the spouse or domestic partner of the employee, as well as any relative living in the immediate household of the employee.
Leaves. Late and early return from leaves shall be subject to the same rounding practice as specified above.

Leaves. Xxxxxxxx Charter School certificated employees shall be entitled to the leaves that are outlined in Article XIX of this Agreement.
Leaves. Leaves provided under this Article are intended to meet the legitimate needs of employees. The use of leaves must be limited to instances of personal need and are not to be abused. Any abuses may be subject to the provisions of Article 11. Except in extenuating circumstances, leave categories may not be combined for a period of continuous absence.
Leaves. All leave allowance will be determined in proportion to the professional employee’s contracted Full Time Equivalency (FTE).
