Common use of Ordinary Disability: Non-Work-Related Injury/Illness Clause in Contracts

Ordinary Disability: Non-Work-Related Injury/Illness. An employee hired prior to July 1, 2013 who has not reached his normal retirement date but who has completed at least ten (10) years of service with the Department and who has become disabled by any medically determinable physical or mental impairment which can be expected to be either of indefinite duration or result in death, which disability has not incurred in the performance of his duties for the Department, and which renders the employee unfit for duty as a firefighter, may be retired on an ordinary disability pension.
