Other Legal and Required Deductions. Before there is any payroll deduction for an employee, the earnings must be regularly sufficient after other legal and required deductions to cover the amount of the prorated monthly Union dues. When an employee is in a non-pay status for an entire month, no deduction will be made to cover that pay period from future earnings. If an employee is in a non-pay status during only part of a pay period, and if the wages and salaries are not sufficient to cover the entire dues deduction, no deduction will be made. The parties recognize that legal and other withholdings and deductions such as Social Security and federal and state income taxes will have priority over Union dues.
