Overseas Dependent Schools Leave. Non-probationary teachers may be granted leave without pay to take a position in Overseas Dependent Schools. a. Leave will be granted for one (1) year and may be extended for one (1) additional year. b. Upon return, the teacher shall be placed on the appropriate step of the salary schedule as though the teacher had remained actively employed during the period of absence. c. When teachers indicate in writing, at the time of application for leave, that it is their desire, every reasonable effort will be made to return them to their vacated assignment. This provision applies only when leave is for up to one (1) full school year. If a position is held for the teacher’s return, it shall be held for a maximum of one year.
