General guidance as to acceptable packaging systems and procedures may be found in publications such as the National Motor Freight Classification, published by the National Motor Freight Traffic Association. For shipments of Perishable Commodities, U.S. and Canadian shipments must be packed to travel without spoilage for 72 hours from time of pickup; all International shipments must be packed to travel without spoilage for 24 hours beyond an agreed deadline.
