Permissive Leave Without Pay. Leave without pay may be granted for the following reasons: A. Educational leave; B. Governmental service leave (not to exceed two [2] years) may be granted for service in the public interest, including but not limited to search and rescue and community emergency response; C. Child care and elder care emergency leave; D. U.S. Public Health Service and Peace Corps leave; E. Leave necessary to reasonably accommodate a disability as required by state or federal law; F. Leave taken voluntarily to reduce the effect of a layoff (Article 35); G. Leave to serve as a Union Representative, to serve in collective bargaining negotiations, or to serve on the Grievance Resolution Panel (GRP); H. Leave when an employee is called to duty as an emergency service volunteer to respond to an emergency (i.e. fire, natural disaster, medical emergency, or search and rescue). I.
