POSITIONS OF RESPONSIBILITY. L11.1 New appointments to continuing Positions of Responsibility which are vacant during the school year will be made as soon as possible after the vacancy occurs and each appointee, whether in an acting capacity or regular position, will be paid a responsibility allowance from the date of appointment. L11.2 A Position of Responsibility shall not be deemed to be vacant by reason of its incumbent being on leave but any appointment of a Teacher to such a Position of Responsibility may only be made in an "acting" capacity. L11.8 If a vacancy occurs in a Position of Responsibility after September 1 or the first day of instruction in a year round school or for schools and worksites with an alternate calendar, this position shall be filled, if practical, on an interim basis for the remainder of the school year. The Bargaining Unit shall be informed of such interim appointments. L11.9 Any Teacher currently employed by the Board, including the Teacher appointed in L11.8 may apply for that position, effective September 1 of the following school year. L11.10 The Board and Bargaining Unit shall review the procedure developed to implement L11.8 and L11. L11.11 A Teacher may be appointed to an "acting" status in a Position of Responsibility only under any of the following circumstances: a) if the incumbent is returning to the position; b) if the appointment occurs after the first day of instruction; c) if the Teacher so appointed does not hold the qualifications for the position as required by the Ministry of Education or the Board; or d) if changes in the organization of the administrative structure concerned are under active investigation for implementation within two years of the appointment taking effect. L11.12 The Board shall communicate to the Bargaining Unit its established policies concerning the number of Positions of Responsibility and criteria and procedures for appointment thereto and shall provide the Bargaining Unit an opportunity to comment before altering such policies.

All candidates who have been interviewed shall be informed in writing within thirty (30) days of the conclusion of the interviews as to a Position whether they have been shortlisted. Upon request, unsuccessful candidates shall be granted an interview with the chairperson of Responsibilitythe interviewing committee or appropriate supervisory officer in which the reason(s) why the candidate was not selected shall be discussed. L11.5 Whenever feasible, (i) The short list for all positions of responsibility shall be sent on a Teacher who holds a Position confidential basis to the President of Responsibility and who is granted a leave OECTA within 30 days after the list has been approved by the Director. (ii) All new appointments to positions of absence or a position sharing assignment shall, upon return, responsibility shall be placed announced in the same Position of Responsibility in the same schoolDirector's Bulletin. L11.6 Notwithstanding L11.5 (a) Resource teachers shall be appointed for a three (3) year term but during the Teacher first year thereof are on probation and may be placed in another position if the Board and the Teacher so agreerelieved. L11.7 Positions of Responsibility vacancies shall be posted electronically. L11.8 If a vacancy occurs in a Position of Responsibility after September 1 or (b) A resource teacher who will have completed the first day of instruction in a three year round school or for schools and worksites with an alternate calendarterm may, this position shall be filled, if practical, on an interim basis for before December 31 preceding the remainder end of the school year. The Bargaining Unit shall be informed , apply to the Director of Education for a three (3) year extension of such interim appointments. L11.9 Any Teacher currently employed by term. L11.9 Any Teacher currently employed (e) Notwithstanding (a), (b) and (c), if the Board at any time or times determines that the number of resource teachers in a particular specialty shall be reduced it may reduce the term of any resource teachers in such specialty provided it does not extend the term of any resource teachers in such specialty. 6.03 Assessment and Programming Teachers will be appointed for an indefinite term. If such teacher is not to be continued in the position for any reason, the teacher shall so be informed by the Board, including the Teacher appointed in L11.8 may apply for that position, effective September 1 May 15 of the following preceding school year. L11.8 If a vacancy occurs in a Position of Responsibility after September 1 or the first day of instruction in a year round school or for schools and worksites with an alternate calendar, this position shall be filled, if practical, on an interim basis for the remainder of the school year. The Bargaining Unit shall be informed of such interim appointments. L11.9 Any Teacher currently employed by the Board, including the Teacher appointed in L11.8 may apply for that position, effective September 1 of the following school year. L11.10 The Board and Bargaining Unit shall review the procedure developed to implement L11.8 and L11. L11.12 The Board shall communicate to the Bargaining Unit its established policies concerning the number of Positions of Responsibility and criteria and procedures for appointment thereto and shall provide the Bargaining Unit an opportunity to comment before altering such policies. L11.13 At the conclusion of each Position of Responsibility hiring round, the Board shall provide the Bargaining Unit with a list of Teachers who were appointed to a Position of Responsibility.
