Preliminary Informal Procedure. An employee may orally present and discuss a grievance with his or her immediate supervisor on an informal basis. At the employee's option, he or she may request the presence of a UNION representative. If the employee exercises this option, the supervisor may determine that such grievance be moved to the first formal step. Should an informal discussion not produce a satisfactory settlement, the grievant may move the grievance to the first formal step. Informal discussions shall not serve to extend the time within which a grievance must be filed, unless such is agreed to in writing by the College/University official responsible for the administration of the first formal step of the grievance procedure.
