Preservation of Evidence. and Chain of Custody Whenever a school official receives from school employees or directly seizes a document, an electronic device or any other item that the official believes may contain evidence of HIB, reasonable precautions must be taken to prevent its theft, destruction or unlawful use by any person. It is understood and agreed that under no circumstances may any person alter, destroy or otherwise dispose of any such evidence. Such evidence must be maintained in a locked and secure location and the handling of such evidence must be documented in order to provide a record that no one has had an opportunity to tamper with the evidence.
