Probationary Period for New Hires. While assigned and compensated as a “recruit”, a Police Officer shall always be on probation and shall be limited to those duties directed and assigned by the Chief. Upon successful completion of the Recruit Academy, or upon initial hire through the Lateral Hiring Process in Section 13.08, an employee shall serve a probationary period of twelve (12) full months of actual work.
