Procedure for Office and Technical Services Unit. 1. After the Board has determined that there is a lack of work or a lack of funds and has made the decision to layoff employees, the District will issue notices of layoff to the employees affected. 2. Employees to be laid-off shall be notified by certified/registered mail sent to the most recent address provided to the District by the employee. 3. The notice shall be deposited in the U.S. mail no less than thirty (30) calendar days prior to the effective date of the layoff. Copies of notices shall be sent to the Union. 4. The notice shall contain the effective day of layoff, displacement rights, if any, and reemployment rights. 5. The notice shall also contain a statement that the employee may be eligible for unemployment insurance.
