Professional Activity. If and when the Employer allows leave of absence with pay to participate in professional development activities, attend workshops, conferences, seminars, professional association meetings and to write examinations and receive degree or diploma, it shall be distributed equitably among the regular and term employees within the respective departments.

Professional Activity. 13.01 When a Professional Activity/Development Day is scheduled during the period of an Extended Occasional Teacher’s assignment, the Occasional Teacher shall participate in the activities for that day and it shall be considered as part of the current assignment. A Professional Development Day shall not break the continuity of an assignment. 13.02 Should a Professional Activity/Development Day occur at the end of an extended term assignment (including the end of a school term), the Professional Activity/Development Day shall be considered as part of the extended term and the occasional teacher will participate in the school’s activities or professional development for that day(s) and be eligible for the occasional teacher’s pre- determined grid pay as in the rest of the extended term contract. 13.03 The Board shall, upon request, provide information to the President of the Occasional Teachers for District 9 and/or his/her designate, about activities planned for each professional activity day, Board sponsored workshop, course and curriculum meeting. Casual Occasional Teachers may participate on a voluntary basis subject to the availability of space. 13.04 For each Occasional Teacher who is on a Board recognized committee, the Board will pay, at the daily rate of the Extended Occasional teacher or at the basic rate for an Occasional Teacher who is not on an extended assignment, for scheduled occasional teaching time lost while attending meetings with the Board or officials, provided the meeting was called or sanctioned by the Board or its management representatives. (a) The Secondary Staffing Superintendent will meet annually with representatives of the bargaining unit to discuss the Board’s role in a professional development day for Secondary Occasional Teachers. (b) If funding specific to occasional teacher professional development is allocated by the Ministry of Education, the Board will make those funds available to be used for PD sessions, whereby the Secondary Staffing Superintendent and the OT President will discuss the allotment of the funds to be used in the relevant OT workshop(s).
Professional Activity. The City Council desires EMPLOYEE to be reasonably active in national, statewide, regional and professional organizations that will contribute to her professional development and standing and that will contribute to the advancement of the CITY'S interests and standing. CITY agrees to budget and pay for the reasonable dues and subscriptions of the City Manager necessary for his participation in such organizations. XXXX agrees to reimburse XxXXXXXX' reasonable and necessary travel, business and subsistence expenses for his activities as provided for in the City's Administrative Policies.

Professional Activity. 12.01 A Long Term Teacher who is scheduled to work when there is a system professional activity day shall be paid for the day provided that the teacher participates in the scheduled professional activities. 12.02 The Board shall provide information to the Branch President about Board sponsored workshops, courses, and curriculum meetings. Teachers may participate on a voluntary basis subject to availability of space. 12.03 The Board shall provide information to the Branch President about the activities planned for each professional activity day. Teachers may participate on a voluntary basis subject to availability of space. 12.04 A Long Term Occasional Teacher will be paid for semester turnaround days, provided their assignment continues into the next semester or by approval of their Principal.
Professional Activity. 1. In the event an in-service course or program is mandated by the School Committee as a job requirement for paraprofessionals, all members of the bargaining unit shall be allowed to avail themselves of the course or program to the maximum extent possible. Programs offered for professional development purposes shall be offered to all paraprofessionals to the maximum extent possible. 2. This does not apply to federal workshops held during the school day unless such workshop applies to the creation of a new category. 3. All paraprofessionals shall attend activities on staff development days and be compensated at their hourly rate of pay. For salary purposes, staff development days are regular work days. They shall participate in training specifically in key areas of their employment. 4. Effective September 1, 2007, members of the bargaining unit shall receive one (1) salary credit for each ten (10) professional development points earned. This section shall apply only to internal activities offered by the department which are appropriate for paraprofessionals. If the course is subject specific, it must be relevant to the paraprofessional’s position within the Xxxx Public Schools. Only PDP’s earned after September 1, 2007, may be converted to salary credits. PDP’s for salary credit shall require the advanced approval of the Superintendent or their designee. 5. On the November professional development day and monthly early release days Paraprofessionals shall receive paraprofessional specific professional development. Training should be job specific for paraprofessionals including but not limited to behavioral management training, restraint training and safety care training, CPR, classroom management, and small group instruction strategies training. 6. Paraprofessionals shall receive training in regards to their health and welfare and the health and welfare of their students. This will include, but not be limited to, how to read and understand an IEP, de-escalation techniques and seclusion techniques. 7. Paraprofessionals working in high need programs will receive protective equipment that will help prevent injury from bites and other physical harm.
