Common use of Professional Development Clause in Contracts

Professional Development. (a) The parties to this Agreement share a desire to improve professional standards by giving the employees the opportunity on occasion: (i) to participate in workshops, short courses or similar out-service programs to keep up to date with knowledge and skills in their respective fields, (ii) to conduct research or perform work related to their normal research programs in institutions or locations other than those of the Employer, (iii) to carry out research in the employee's field of specialization not specifically related to their assigned work projects when in the opinion of the Employer such research is needed to enable the employees to fill their present role more adequately. (b) Subject to the Employer's approval an employee shall receive leave with pay in order to participate in the activities described in 18.04(a). (c) An employee may apply at any time for professional development under this clause, and the Employer may select an employee at any time for such professional development. (d) When an employee is selected by the Employer for professional development under this clause, the Employer will consult with the employee before determining the location and duration of the program of work or studies to be undertaken. (e) Employees selected for professional development under this clause shall continue to receive their normal compensation, including any increase for which they may become eligible. Employees shall not be entitled to any compensation under Articles 8 (Overtime) and 12 (Travelling Time) while on professional development under this clause. (f) An employee on professional development under this clause may be reimbursed for reasonable travel expenses and such other additional expenses as the Employer deems appropriate.

(f) An employee on professional development under this clause may be reimbursed for reasonable travel expenses expenses, and such other additional expenses expenses, as the Employer deems appropriate.

(e) Employees An employee selected for professional development under this clause shall continue to receive their normal compensation, including any increase for which they the employee may become eligible. Employees The employee shall not be entitled to any compensation under Articles 8 22 (Overtime) and 12 23 (Travelling Time) while on professional development under this clause. (f) An employee on professional development under this clause may be reimbursed for reasonable travel expenses and such other additional expenses expenses, as the Employer deems appropriate.

(d) When an employee is selected by the Employer employer for professional development under this clause, clause the Employer employer will consult with the employee before determining the location and duration of the program of work or studies to be undertaken. (e) Employees An employee selected for professional development under this clause shall continue to receive their his normal compensation, compensation including any increase for which they he may become eligible. Employees The employee shall not be entitled to any compensation under Articles 8 B2 (Overtime) and 12 Article B9 (Travelling Time) while on professional development under this clause. (f) An employee on professional development under this clause may shall be reimbursed for reasonable travel expenses and such other additional expenses as the Employer employer deems appropriate. Travel arrangements shall be made in advance and approved by the employer prior to the employee's departure. (g) Employees who are required to attend courses by the employer, such as but not limited to C.P.R. and A.C.L.S. courses, shall do so on paid time and shall be fully compensated for enrollment, travel and reasonable expenses incurred to attend such courses.

(c) An employee may apply at any time for professional development under this clause, and the Employer may select an employee at any time for such professional development. (d) When an employee is selected by the Employer for professional development under this clause, the Employer will consult with the employee before determining the location and duration of the program of work or studies to be undertaken. (e) Employees An employee selected for professional development under this clause shall continue to receive their his or her normal compensation, compensation including any increase for which they he or she may become eligible. Employees The employee shall not be entitled to any compensation under Articles 8 (Overtime) B2–Overtime and 12 (B6–Travelling Time) Time while on professional development under this clause. (f) An employee on professional development under this clause may be reimbursed for reasonable travel expenses and such other additional expenses as the Employer deems appropriate. (a) The Employer shall establish selection criteria for granting leave under clauses B23.02, B23.03 and B23.

(a) The Employer shall establish selection criteria for granting leave under clauses 18.02, 18.03 and 18.04. Upon request, a copy of these criteria will be provided to an employee and/or the Institute representative. (b) The parties to this Collective Agreement acknowledge the mutual benefits to be derived from consultation on career development. To this effect, the Employer, upon request, will consult with the Institute as prescribed in Article 35, Joint Consultation.‌

Employees The employee shall not be entitled to any compensation under Articles 8 (Overtime) B2-Overtime and 12 (B6- Travelling Time) Time while on professional development under this clause. (f) An employee on professional development under this clause may be reimbursed for reasonable travel expenses and such other additional expenses as the Employer deems appropriate. (a) The Employer shall establish selection criteria for granting leave under clauses B24.02, B24.03

Professional Development. (a) The parties to this Agreement share a desire to improve professional standards by giving the employees the opportunity on occasion: (i) to participate in workshops, short courses or similar out-service programs to keep up to date with knowledge and skills in their respective fields, (ii) to conduct research or perform work related to their normal research programs in institutions or locations other than those of the Employer,, or (iii) to carry out research in the employee's employee„s field of specialization not specifically related to their his assigned work projects when in the opinion of the Employer such research is needed to enable the employees employee to fill their his present role more adequately. (b) Subject to the Employer's Employer„s approval an employee shall receive leave with pay in order to participate in the activities described in clause 18.04(a)) above. (c) An employee may apply at any time for professional development under this clause, and the Employer may select an employee at any time for such professional development. (d) When an employee is selected by the Employer for professional development under this clause, clause the Employer will consult with the employee before determining the location and duration of the program of work or studies to be undertaken. (e) Employees An employee selected for professional development under this clause shall continue to receive their his normal compensation, compensation including any increase for which they he may become eligible. (f) An employee on professional development under this clause may be reimbursed for reasonable travel expenses and such other additional expenses as the Employer deems appropriate.

Upon request, a copy of these criteria will be provided to an employee and/or the Institute representative. (b) The parties to this Collective Agreement acknowledge the mutual benefits to be derived from consultation on career development. To this effect, the Employer, upon request, will consult with the Institute as prescribed in Article 35 (Joint Consultation).

(b) Subject to the Employer's ’s approval an employee shall receive leave with pay in order to participate in the activities described in 18.04(aArticle 15.04 (a). (c) An employee may apply at any time for professional development under this clauseArticle, and the Employer may select an employee at any time for such professional development. (d) When an employee is selected by the Employer for professional development under this clauseArticle, the Employer will consult with the employee before determining the location and duration of the program of work or studies to be undertaken. (e) Employees An employee selected for professional development under this clause Article shall continue to receive their his/her normal compensation, compensation including any increase for which they he may become eligible. Employees The employee shall not be entitled to any compensation under Articles 8 7 (Overtime) and 12 10 (Travelling Traveling Time) while on professional profession development under this clause. When taking a course on regular days off the Employee shall receive an equivalent number of days of in lieu. (f) An employee on professional development under this clause Article may be reimbursed for reasonable travel expenses and such other additional related expenses as the Employer employer deems appropriate.

(b) All applications for leave under clauses 18.02 through 18.04 will be reviewed by the Employer. (c) In the case of denial of a career development opportunity described in this article, upon written request from the employee, the Employer shall provide the reasons for denial of the request in writing.
