Common use of Professional Hours Clause in Contracts

Professional Hours. Bargaining unit members may log additional hours that are outside of their contracted or supplemental hours. These hours must be educationally oriented, course specific, or activities linked to teacher responsibilities outside of the school day. These hours are not paid hours, supplemental contracted hours, or hours that are being required for course work. These hours can accumulate towards the final work day at the end of the year, but cannot exceed a half day (3.5 hours). Events and hours must be preapproved by Administration prior to the last work day. MLK Day and Presidents’ Day hours can be included on the log as well. Each teacher must have his/her Professional Hours Log signed by principal to verify approval.
