Professional Mandates. The District will provide Intervention Specialists five (5) release days to complete professionally mandated duties associated with the drafting of IEPs. Teachers must apply for his/her five (5) release days by September 30 of the contract year. Requests shall be granted on a first-come, first-served basis up to the number of special education substitutes available on the requested date. If a teacher fails to request release days by September 30, release days will be assigned by administration. All release days shall occur on-site. This section shall not apply to any bargaining unit member who does not have specific IEP drafting responsibilities.

In lieu of providing the five (5) days of release time to an Intervention Specialist, the District may employ and assign an IEP writer to assist with the Intervention Specialist’s IEP writing responsibilities. In this case, no additional release time shall be granted to the Intervention Specialist.

  • Professional Development Leave A. Policy. Professional development leave shall be made available to employees who meet the requirements set forth below. Such leaves are granted to increase an employee's value to the University through enhanced opportunities for professional renewal, educational travel, study, formal education, research, writing, or other experience of professional value, not as a reward for service.

  • PROFESSIONAL NEGOTIATIONS A. Not later than March 1 of the calendar year in which this Agreement expires, the Association and the District will begin negotiations for a successor Agreement. Any Agreement so negotiated will apply to all teachers, and will be reduced to writing and signed by the District and the Association.
