Promotion to a Higher Paying Classification. An employee who is promoted to a higher-rated classification within the bargaining unit will be placed in the range of the higher-rated classification so that she shall receive no less an increase in rate than the equivalent of one (1) step in the wage rate of her previous classification (provided that she does not exceed the wage rate of the classification to which she has been promoted) and she shall progress within the new salary range in accordance with her length of service in the new job subsequent to the date of transfer.
