PROTECTION OF WORK AND PROPERTY. The Contractor shall be responsible for all damages to persons or property that occur as a result of his fault or negligence in connection with the prosecution of this contract and shall be responsible for the proper care and protection of all materials delivered and work performed until completion and final acceptance by the District. All work shall be solely at the Contractor’s risk. Contractor shall adequately protect adjacent property from settlement or loss of lateral support as provided by law and contract documents. Contractor shall take all necessary precautions for safety of employees on the work and shall comply with all applicable safety laws and building codes to prevent accidents or injury to persons on, about, or adjacent to premises where work is being performed. Contractor shall erect and properly maintain at all times, as required by conditions and progress of work, all necessary safeguards, signs, barriers, light and watchmen for protection of workers and the public and shall post danger signs warning against hazards created by such features in the course of construction. Contractor shall designate a responsible member of the organization on the work, whose duty shall be prevention of accidents. Contractor shall report name and position of person so designated to District. In an emergency affecting life and safety of life or of work or of adjoining property, Contractor, without special instruction or authorization from District, is permitted to act at its discretion to prevent the threatened loss or injury. It shall be the responsibility of the Contractor to ascertain from the District the rules and regulations pertaining to safety, security and driving on school grounds, particularly when children are present
