To build a better working relationship and create a climate of trust, the parties commit to do the following in their interactions at each work site and at all levels. • Respect one another • Actively listen to one another • Communicate with candor and honesty • Act in a trustworthy manner • Commit to build trust • Share appropriate authority and responsibility in decision-making • Seek information before reaching conclusions • Focus on the future and not the past • Embrace the challenges of the future • See problems as opportunities to work together • Recognize each other’s needs and interests • Seek consensus whenever possible • Celebrate our accomplishments • Recognize the dignity and contributions of each other • Encourage and support risk-taking • Build shared vision Finally, this commitment statement is not created as a part of the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Its effectiveness is to be evaluated and reviewed by representatives of the respective parties regularly each year in an effort to make it an integral part of the behavior and culture in District 16.
