Reform of the International Financial Institutions. In the discussion, civil society leaders pressed the Host Sherpa on the need to reform the Bretton Xxxxx Institutions, with particular attention to the International Monetary Fund (IMF), in order to enhance their governance and to change the formula for voting. Within the reform, participants discussed issues such as restructuring of the chairs of the Executive Board (e.g., including more chairs for poor countries), transparency in the election of the Director General, the possibility of establishing a council of ministers with greater powers, and changing patterns of employment of staff (i.e., more diverse origin and universities).
