Rejection of Probation. An employee who has more than one (1) year of continuous employment, and who ceases to be employed for reason of rejection during his/her probationary period immediately following a second or subsequent appointment, shall be paid severance pay equal to the product obtained by multiplying his/her weekly rate of pay on termination of employment by the number of completed years of continuous employment as of that date to a maximum of twenty-seven (27) years, less any period in respect of which he/she was paid severance pay, retiring leave or a cash gratuity in lieu thereof by the employer.
