Common use of Renter’s Insurance Clause in Contracts

Renter’s Insurance. Resident’s property is not insured by Landlord. Landlord strongly recommends that Resident obtain coverage for Resident’s personal property to protect against personal injury and property damage, including losses from theft, fire, smoke, water damage, and vandalism throughout the duration of the tenancy. Resident is not a co-insured and is expressly excluded from coverage under any insurance policy held by Landlord which is now in effect or becomes effective during the term of this Agreement. A renter’s liability insurance policy such as the one that may be required below, benefits both the Landlord and the Resident. (a) Coverage of at least $(max statutory limit) in personal liability (bodily injury and property damage) for each occurrence. (b) The premises listed above must be listed as the location of the Resident insured.
