Retiree Medical Benefit for Employees. Retiring Between the Ages of 50 and 55 An employee who is at least 50 years of age, but less than 55, and has at least eight years of CalPERS qualifying employment with the City will retain eligibility for the retiree medical benefits provided in subsection 30.3 (Pre Age 65 Retiree Health Insurance) when the employee reaches age 55 if the employee is enrolled in a group health plan coverage from the date of his/her termination from City employment until the employee’s 55th birthday. If for any reason the employee has a lapse in group health care coverage the employee forfeits his/her eligibility for the retiree health plan benefits upon reaching age 55 and the City has no further obligation to provide any benefits under this section to the employee and/or his spouse or domestic partner.
