Right to Attend and Convene Meetings. School staff representatives (or their designate), elected or appointed in accordance with Union procedures shall have the right: a. Outside of instructional hours, to convene meetings in the school to conduct Union business; b. Outside of instructional hours, to be present at a Step 1 Grievance meeting between a Principal / Vice Principal and a teacher in the school or District; c. Subject to the safety and educational welfare of students, to be relieved of instructional duties in order to participate in a grievance, arbitration, or any other meeting with Board representatives when required to be present. Adequate notice shall be given to the Superintendent of Schools or designate when it is necessary for the representative to leave the classroom for periods that would require a replacement.
