Common use of Role of Alternate Members Clause in Contracts

Role of Alternate Members. (a) Alternate members shall serve in the place of regular members only in the event of a prolonged absence of a regular member through illness or professional commitments; when a regular member is herself/himself the subject of the Committee’s deliberations; when a regular member is herself/himself in a conflict of interest situation; when a regular member has resigned from the University or becomes an academic administrator prior to the expiration of her/his term of office; when alternates are needed to expand the Committee. In the event that an alternate member fills a vacancy on the Committee created by resignation of a regular member, he/she shall be considered a regular member.
