Scan DEV. Traders who use the Dynamic Execution Method for entering trades will want to take advantage of the Scan DEV feature. Unlike the EBC approach, which is fully mechanical and uses Best Deviation, the Dynamic Execution Method is based on real-time TS signals where execution occurs prior to bar close. This leaves the trader subject to the unstable TS signals associated with real-time data, a problem that is reduced by using Scan DEV to select the best value for DEV to produce the best real- time signal accuracy (RTSA). As previously discussed, the main function of Deviation is to adjust both the number of trades triggered and the real-time signal accuracy. Please note that you need a relatively high RTSA to use the Dynamic Execution Method. Scan Dev is available only when Entry at Bar Close (EBC) is unchecked. Increasing the Deviation will loosen the position of stops, thereby reducing the number of trades and increasing the real-time signal accuracy. Decreasing the Deviation will tighten stops, thereby producing more trades and decreasing real-time signal accuracy. The Scan DEV function is designed to find the best Deviation value for a balanced RTSA and the most profit. • The following is the main guideline for selecting the Deviation parameter: a larger TSPC is associated with a smaller Deviation, and a smaller TSPC is associated with a larger Deviation. For example, if TSPC = 8, then you might use DEV = -0.1. Inversely, if TSPC = 1, then you might use DEV = 0.5. The purpose of maintaining the inverse relationship is to avoid entering into choppy markets and to keep from overtrading. • Scan DEV is appropriate only if you are using the Dynamic Execution method, and you want to adjust RTSA while TSPC is fixed. To use the Scan DEV function: • Click , the Target icon, which will run the Scan DEV routine. Review the results in the Mini Report. • Normally, a higher RTSA will sacrifice profits. Therefore, you might not want to adjust the DEV for the highest RTSA. RTSA from 60% to 80% is practical. See the following section about how to enter trades under such RTSA conditions.
