Scheduling Objectives. The following scheduling objectives contained in the Collective Agreement shall apply to all nurses working ten (10) hour tours as follows:

Scheduling Objectives. G.01 The Hospital will endeavour to maintain and achieve the following objectives in the formulation of working schedules, although it is recognized by the Association that it has not always been and may not always be possible to attain these objectives:
1. At least one (1) weekend off in two (2);
2. Schedules will be posted no less than twenty-eight (28) days in advance of a twenty-eight (28) day posting period;
3. Nurses will not normally be scheduled to work more than six (6) consecutive calendar days. This clause does not prohibit exchange of shifts by an individual staff that might result in six (6) or more consecutive calendar days following the process described in G.01 (12).
4. No less than two (2) consecutive shifts shall be scheduled off between a change of tours.

All nurses will receive at least six (6) consecutive days off at either Christmas or New Year’s, except in areas where nurses are not regularly scheduled to work on weekends and statutory holidays. Days off at Christmas will include December 24, 25, and 26th and New Year’s will include December 31st and January 1st, unless otherwise mutually agreed. Days worked at Christmas will include December 24th, 25th and 26th, and at New Year’s will include December 31st and January 1st unless otherwise mutually agreed.
6. All Nurses will submit requests and availability for Christmas/New Year’s season by October 1st and confirmed by November 15th. This provision shall not apply to any area where nurses normally work Monday to Friday and are not normally scheduled to work on paid holidays.
7. Scheduling objectives may be waived between December 15 and January 15 in order to accommodate G.01 (5).
8. A nurse who rotates shifts shall be scheduled two (2) consecutive days off after working night duty;
9. For nurses who rotate shifts, the Hospital will endeavour to schedule at least fifty (50%) percent of the tours on day shift except where the nurse agrees to work a greater percentage of shifts. When this is not possible, the nurses involved in the scheduling unit, shall, over a reasonable period of time, be scheduled to the same number of day tours. Days off shall not be included in the averaging system.
10. For those who rotate, a weekend shall be defined as fifty-six (56) consecutive hours off work during the period following the completion of the Friday day shift until the commencement of the Monday day shift.

ii) Tour schedules will be posted at least two (2) weeks in advance and shall cover a six (6) week period.
iii) At least twelve (12) hours will be scheduled between tours.
Scheduling Objectives. The following scheduling objectives contained in the Collective Agreement shall apply to all employees working ten (10) hour tours as follows:
(a) Employees shall not normally be scheduled to work more than four (4) consecutive 9.375 hour tours. If an employee works five (5) consecutive tours, she or he shall receive a minimum of two (2) preferably three (3) days off.
(b) At least 14 hours time off will be scheduled between tours.
(c) The weekend is defined as commencing at the completion of the day tour Friday and concluding not less than sixty-two (62) hours later. The commencement time will vary in the event an Employee works on a permanent tour.
(d) Schedules will be posted no less than twenty-eight (28) days in advance of the start date of the new schedule.
(e) Requests for changes in posted time schedules must be submitted in writing and co-signed by an employee willing to exchange days off or work tours.

(a) Draft shift schedules will be posted five (5) weeks in advance. Employees, who wish to make changes on their schedules may do so by exchanging their shifts in the fifth (5) week prior to the schedule becoming effective. Any such changes are subject to the approval of the Program Director/Manager. This does not preclude future mutual exchanges for this scheduling period, as outlined in Article H-1(m). The finalized schedules shall be posted, except in cases of emergency four (4) weeks in advance and shall cover not less than a four (4) week period.
(b) The Hospital shall ensure that each Employee receives two (2) weekends off in four (4). Where an Employee is scheduled to be off duty for a weekend she will be scheduled off duty for a period of not less than fifty-six (56) hours between the end of her scheduled Friday shift and the commencement of her next scheduled shift unless the Employee agrees otherwise. Where an Employee is scheduled to work, called into work or assigned to standby during any of these fifty-six (56) hours stated above, the Employee shall be considered to have worked the weekend.

a. Shift schedules will be posted two (2) weeks in advance and cover a minimum period of four (4) weeks.
b. A request for a change in the posted shift schedule must be submitted in writing and co-signed by the RPN willing to make the exchange. Such request is subject to approval by the Hospital, and will not be unreasonably denied. Such exchange shall not in any event result in premium or overtime payment by the Hospital.
c. RPNs will not be scheduled to work more than four (4) consecutive extended tours.
d. The scheduling provisions of Article 10.09 may be waived by the Hospital between the second (2nd) Monday in December and the second (2nd) Monday in January, to provide for Christmas and New Year’s scheduling.
e. The scheduling provisions of Article(s) 10.02 and 10.03 are waived in order to accommodate the extended tours.
f. The day shift will be the first shift of the day.
