Extended Tours. Where the Hospital and the Union agree, subject to the approval of the Ministry of Labour, other arrangements regarding hours of work may be entered into between the parties on a local level with respect to tours beyond the normal or standard work day. The model agreement with respect to extended tour arrangements is set out below: This Model Agreement shall be part of the Collective Agreement between the parties herein, and shall apply to the employees described in Article 1 of the Model Agreement.
Extended Tours. The Employer and the Union may agree to implement extended tours, subject to the following:
(a) Each facility/unit must have eighty percent (80%) agreement of the full-time and part-time employees who work in the facility/unit.
(b) The Extended Tour may be cancelled by either party on giving ten (10) calendar weeks notice to the other in writing of its desire to terminate. A meeting shall be held within two (2) weeks of receipt of such notice to discuss the reasons for the cancellation. Extended tours may be discontinued by the Union in any facility/unit when sixty percent (60%) of the full-time and part-time employees in the facility/unit so indicate by secret ballot to the Union.
(c) With the exception of the specific variations set forth in this Article, all other conditions and terms of the Collective Agreement and Appendices shall remain in full force and effect.
Extended Tours. M-1
(a) Extended tours shall be introduced into any unit when:
i) Seventy-five (75%) of the Nurses in the unit who vote so indicate by secret ballot, and
ii) The Hospital agrees to implement the extended tours, such agreement shall not be withheld in an unreasonable or arbitrary manner.
iii) There shall be a trial period of six (6) months followed by a re-vote at the end of that period to seventy-five (75%) continuing support.
iv) Where a unit has had an unsuccessful vote under i) above, another vote to introduce extended tours will not take place for a minimum of six (6) months from the date of the original vote.
(b) Extended tours may be discontinued in any unit when,
i) Seventy-five (75%) of the Nurses in the unit who vote so indicate by secret ballot, or
ii) The Hospital serves notice of its desire to discontinue extended tours because of:
A) Adverse effects on patient care;
B) Inability to provide a workable staffing schedule, or
C) Where the Hospital wishes to do so for other reasons which are neither unreasonable nor arbitrary.
(c) When notice of discontinuation is given by either party in accordance with paragraph (2) above,
i) The parties shall meet within two (2) weeks of the giving of notice to review the request for discontinuance in an attempt to resolve identified problems, and
ii) Where it is determined that the extended tours are to be discontinued, affected Nurses shall be given sixty (60) days' notice before the schedules are so amended. M-2 (a) i) The hours of work for Extended Tour Nurses shall be averaged over a specified period to meet the needs of the scheduling requirements of each unit (i.e., 225 hours in a 6-week period). Such averaging shall be agreed upon between the Hospital and the Association.
Extended Tours. (a) Extended tours shall be introduced into any unit when:
i) Eighty percent (80%) of the nurses in the unit so indicate by secret ballot; and
ii) the Hospital agrees to implement the extended tours. Such agreement shall not be withheld in an unreasonably arbitrary manner.
(b) Extended tours may be discontinued in any unit when:
i) Fifty percent (50%) of the nurses in the unit so indicate by secret ballot; or
ii) the Hospital, because of
A) adverse effects on patient care, or
B) inability to provide a workable staffing schedule, states its intention to discontinue the extended tours in the schedule.
(c) When notice of discontinuation is given by either party in accordance with paragraph (b) above, then:
i) The parties shall meet within two (2) weeks of the giving of notice to review the request for discontinuation; and
ii) where it is determined that the extended tours will be discontinued, affected nurses shall be given sixty (60) days notice before the schedules are so amended.
(d) The following regulations shall govern the scheduling of work for nurses working extended tours:
i) The Hospital shall ensure each nurse every second weekend off.
ii) Nurses will not be required to work more than three (3) consecutive tours excluding DD/NN and combination shift schedules.
iii) All other scheduling regulations which apply to nurses working the regular daily tour as provided in Article H.
Extended Tours. 11.25 HOUR TOURS - FULL-TIME
Extended Tours. The Employer and the Union may agree to implement extended tours, subject to the following:
Extended Tours. Introduction and discontinuation of a compressed work week (extended tour)
(a) A compressed work week shall be introduced into any unit when:
i) eighty per cent (80%) of the employees in the unit so indicate by secret ballot; and
ii) the Alliance agrees to implement the compressed work week, such agreement shall not be withheld in an unreasonably arbitrary manner.
(b) A compressed work week may be discontinued in any unit when:
i) fifty per cent (50%) of the employees in the unit so indicate by secret ballot; or
ii) the Alliance because of
A) adverse effects on patient care,
B) inability to provide a workable staffing schedule,
C) the cost of staffing utilizing extended tours being appreciably greater than staffing utilizing a 7.5 hour tour rotation. states its intention to discontinue the compressed work week in the schedule.
(c) When notice of discontinuation is given by either party in accordance with paragraph (2) above, then:
i) the parties shall meet within two (2) weeks of the giving of notice to review the request for discontinuation; and
ii) where it is determined that the compressed work week will be discontinued, affected employees shall be given sixty (60) days notice before the schedules are so amended.
(d) If full-time lines are scheduled a combination of seven and one half (7.50) hour and eleven and one quarter (11.25) hour shifts, they shall not be scheduled more than thirty-seven and one half (37
Extended Tours. Where the Hospital and the Union mutually agree to implement extended tours for a nursing unit or service department the parties shall meet to complete the following model agreement: Between The Grand River Hospital And CAW, Local 302 This Model Agreement shall be part of the Collective Agreement between the parties herein, and shall apply to the employees described in Article 1 of the Model Agreement.
Extended Tours a) A scheduled twelve (12) hour shift shall be an eleven and one-quarter (11 ¼ ) hours of paid time, exclusive of a thirty (30) minute unpaid lunch period and a fifteen (15) minute unpaid break. Employees shall be entitled to paid relief periods during the shift equivalent to thirty (30) minutes.
b) Not more than three (3) consecutive extended tours shall be scheduled. When the Employer requires an employee to work a fourth (4th) consecutive shift, premium pay shall be paid forth fourth (4th) consecutive shift and for subsequent shifts until a shift has been scheduled off. The exception shall be when a fourth (4th) consecutive shift is the result of an exchange, to accommodate a request by the employee, or should an employee request to be scheduled four (4) in a row, in writing.
c) At least twelve (12) hours time off will be scheduled off between shifts, and at least forty-eight (48) hours for full-time and twenty-four for part-time employees when switching from night shift to day shift, unless mutually agreed otherwise. Failure to do so will result in premium pay for the subsequent shift.
d) During the switch to Daylight Savings Time, the employee shall be paid for twelve and a quarter (12 ¼ ) hours at regular time. During the switch back to Standard Time, the employee shall be paid regular earnings (11 ¼ hours).
e) The Employer will provide at least alternating weekends off. Employees will not work two weekends in a row, except to satisfy specific days off requested by the employee; an employee has requested weekend work, or where such weekend is worked as a result of an exchange of shifts with another employee.
f) Overtime will be paid after seventy-eight and three quarter (78 ¾ ) hours worked in a pay period (applies to full-time and temporary full-time only).
g) Extended tours may be introduced into any unit when:
i) Eighty (80) percent (70% in units of fewer than 10 employees) of the employees in the unit so indicate in a secret ballot after the employees view a draft schedule.
ii) The Employer agrees to implement the extended tour week. Such agreement will not be unreasonably withheld.
iii) All proposed possible schedules have been communicated to the Union for the purpose of determining whether they violate the collective agreement.
iv) An initial test period of six (6) months has been completed, after which a further secret ballot vote of the affected employees is conducted by the union in which at least eighty (80) percent of the employees indica...
