School based Partners. In most schools one senior member of staff, the professional tutor/ITT co-ordinator, oversees all partnership communication with the university. Student teachers are normally attached to an experienced member of staff in the appropriate subject department who is the designated school-based mentor. In addition to the professional tutor/ITT co-ordinator the headteacher/principal has an important role as the ultimate guarantor of high quality ITT within the institution.
