School Facilities. The Board agrees to maintain classrooms, other learning areas, and school facilities in a clean and working condition conducive to effective teaching and learning.

School Facilities. 31.4.1 The Association may, upon prior approval, use the school buildings and facilities for meetings as long as such meetings do not interfere with normal school operations. 31.4.2 One (1) Association bulletin board, or adequate space, shall be provided in each building for the posting of Association notices. The Association representative shall post all material on said bulletin board. 31.4.3 The Association may use the teachers’ mail boxes and the intra-District mail for communication except that materials advocating the nomination or election of any candidate for public office may not be distributed in teachers’ school mail boxes or posted on school or Association bulletin boards. The parties agree that the provisions of this Article 31.4.3 shall not be interpreted to prohibit the Association from placing in teachers’ mail boxes one (1) document setting forth its endorsements prior to any election. The Association shall provide a courtesy copy of all materials distributed to teachers through such mail boxes and the intra-District mail to the Superintendent and the building principal at the time of distribution.

School Facilities. As budget and facilities permit, the Board will make available the following: A. A desk and chair for each teacher. B. Telephone(s) for the professional use of teachers. C. Dining tables for teachers. D. Storage space for teachers’ instructional materials and supplies. E. A work area containing equipment and supplies to aid in the preparation of instructional materials. F. An appropriately furnished room to be reserved for the use of the employees as a lounge. G. Employee rest rooms separate from the students’ rest rooms.

School Facilities. A. Teachers shall work under safe and healthful conditions. B. A desk and clothing facility shall be available for each teacher. C. Each school shall be provided with at least one (1) clean, attractive, comfortable faculty lounge. Lounge facilities shall not be used for classroom or meeting purposes. D. The school telephone shall be available for teacher use. E. Teachers shall be provided with a separate lunch area. F. A duplicate machine shall be made available in each school for the use of teachers in preparing instructional materials. G. School bulletin boards will be maintained by the teachers and principal. Assignments will be made on a regularly scheduled basis as established by the principal in cooperation with the building committee. Teachers shall not be required to perform this duty before or after school or during the lunch period. H. Upon request of the building representative to the principal, the school Federation members shall be permitted to meet within the school under circumstances that will not interfere with the instructional program and when a custodian is on duty. Evening meetings will require permits. I. The installation of leased or purchased vending machines shall be permitted in all teacher lounges. Any cost for leasing or subsequent maintenance shall be borne by the staff through the building committee. The Board and the Federation agree that income and expense from these machines when used exclusively by the staff shall be the responsibility of the Federation Building Committee subject to approval of the faculty. Such funds shall not be received by the Board and shall not be accrued using the Board’s non-profit status or accounts. Monies collected shall not be subject to reporting to the district and employees so involved shall not be required to be bonded. Expenditures of such funds shall be upon the recommendation of the building committee subject to faculty approval. J. Regular usage of the public address system shall be confined to no more than twice daily. Classroom interruptions by the public address system are to be permitted only in the case of an emergency or when no other reasonable alternative is possible. The public address system shall not be used to observe, evaluate or discipline teachers. School Facilities. A. A private room shall be made available in each school for necessary employee conferences after proper arrangements have been made. B. Telephone facilities will be available to employees in each school and facility for school and/or personal use. When an employee needs to make a telephone call relating to school business during which confidential information will be discussed, the site administrator will make efforts to ensure the privacy of the call. C. The Board agrees to make a lounge available for employees in each school. D. The Board agrees to make private restroom facilities available for the use of the faculty and staff where possible. E. The District shall provide regular maintenance and inspection of classrooms and other learning areas of each school or site to maintain such facilities in a clean condition and in compliance with applicable safety and health laws, rules, and regulations. F. Classrooms in which classes are being held shall be free of unnecessary interruptions by maintenance, custodial, or construction workers. Disruptions through the intercommunication system and other disturbances shall be kept to a minimum. G. When making an assignment for vacant, constantly assigned work areas, priority consideration shall first be given to an employee who has worked at the site for one or more years without having constantly assigned space. This assignment shall not have a negative impact on specific programs. H. Employees shall be given all keys or other access devices necessary to perform their teaching duties; however, the employees shall accept the responsibility for possession of such keys and their operation of security systems in keeping with the procedures as outlined in policy or regulation. Employees may request that the site administrator issue keys and other access devices prior to the official pre-planning week of each school year to prepare their classrooms for the start of school.

School Facilities. For two hours following termination of the scheduled work day, the Association shall have the right to reasonable use of school facilities and equipment, and to materials and supplies at reasonable cost; after such period it shall have the same use as any other community organization as long as the Association shall not be on strike.
