Service and Disability Retirees. Employees who retire as service retirees or disability retirees, prior to becoming eligible for Medicare or similar national health care benefits, are eligible to continue to participate in the City of Grand Rapids group health care plan. Eligible service or disability retirees who decline to participate in the City’s health care plan shall not be eligible to re-enter the City’s health care plan at a later date.
