ILLNESS AND DISABILITY. 1. At the beginning of each school year, each administrator shall be credited with a fourteen (14) day sick leave allowance (effective July 1, 2015 twelve (12) day sick leave allowance) to be used for absences caused by illness or disability, or serious illness or quarantine in the family. The family will be defined as husband, wife, father, mother, son, daughter, sister, brother, grandparent, parents-in-law, sisters-in-law, brothers-in- law, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, and grandchildren. The unused portion of such allowance shall accumulate from year to year up to an unlimited number. 2. Additional sick pay will be granted to administrators who exhaust their accumulated sick leave subject to the following conditions: a. That a credit of at least twenty-five (25) sick leave days had been accumulated by the administrator at the beginning of the school year, and b. That a statement from a qualified physician which certifies the illness is submitted to the Superintendent’s office, and c. That additional sick pay shall not exceed one-half (1/2) of the amount that has been accumulated at the beginning of the school year, and d. That additional sick pay shall not extend beyond the current school year. 3. An administrator who is unable to work because of personal illness or disability and who has exhausted all sick leave available, shall be granted a leave of absence without pay for the duration of such illness or disability up to one (1) year, and the leave may be renewed each year upon written request by the administrator unless serious permanent disability shall have occurred. 4. Absence due to an on-the-job injury, but not involving personal gross negligence, will entitle the insured to supplemental compensation defined below: Supplemental compensation payable for absence necessitated by injury will be comprised of Worker’s Compensation in part, and payment of the differential by the Board to effect a combined cumulative total equal to the value of accumulated sick days. Only after this combined equivalent amount has been used up, will sick days be charged to the administrator. 5. An administrator who has been absent five (5) consecutive work days may be requested to present a doctor’s statement upon return to work. In case of prolonged illness (after ten (10) consecutive work days) the administrator must provide a report from a doctor. In addition, a pattern of absences may also require a doctor’s statement. 6. Each bargaining unit member shall be advanced two (2) sick days on their date of hire, and on July 1st of each year thereafter, and then shall be credited one (1) sick day per month thereafter for each month worked. The teacher may take a maximum of two (2) days per death for deaths outside of the immediate family, but which are significant to the teacher. 5. In case of sickness or injury compensated by Worker's Compensation, the pay will be the difference between the regular salary and Worker's Compensation paid. Nothing in this section would require the Board of Education to compensate the employee more than their contractual obligation for salary and benefits or prohibit them from recovering overpayment of said salary or benefits. 6. A teacher reporting for duty at the beginning of the work period, and forced to leave after 10:30 a.m. will be given credit for one-half day of work. If forced to leave after 2:00 p.m. will be given credit as being present the entire day. Conditions for these absences shall be of an emergency nature only, and shall be approved by the building principal. 7. However, there will be no transference of any accumulated unused sick leave days except for those circumstances specified in paragraph 4.3 F to a sick leave bank. Furthermore, there will be no payment of any portion of any unused leave days at the time of release, resignation, of any teacher. Leaves of absence with full pay and charged to the employee’s sick leave account shall be granted in the case of necessary medical or dental appointments not obtainable during non-duty hours. D. Employees are entitled to Workers’ Compensation Benefits in accordance with the statutory provisions for any injury or emotional trauma sustained in the course of performing employment duties, including, but not limited to duties performed under Schedule B activities. The District shall make up the difference in wages received under Workers’ Compensation and the employee’s normal per diem by coordinating use of the employee’s sick days in order for the employee to receive full pay. Payments received from Workers’ Compensation while the district is making full payment are to be turned over to the District. E. For employees injured by students or assaulted as defined in Article XV, F while performing duties and acting within employee rights, the District, with administrative approval, will provide up to five

Teacher sick leave will be accumulated at the rate of ten (10) days per year to one hundred fifty (150) days beginning with the 1990-91 contract year and remaining at one hundred fifty (150) for each remaining contract year, any unused sick days above (150) one hundred fifty at the end of the school year shall be placed in the sick bank. The yearly ten (10) days will be available at the beginning of each school year providing the teachers reports for work on the first work day of the contract year and completes that first day. Should a teacher be unable to report for work on the first work day or be unable to complete that day due to illness or other condition provided under Section 4.3B, the ten (10) days will be granted upon the teacher's return to work with days missed deducted from previously accumulated sick leave. Should a teacher have no previously accumulated sick leave or used up all previously accumulated sick leave, that teacher, upon return to work, will receive the yearly ten (10) days less the number of days missed in excess of previously accumulated sick leave. Any extenuating circumstances not covered above may be reviewed by the Sick Leave Bank Board which is hereby authorized to make decisions in regard to those circumstances. Any extenuating circumstances not covered above and involving a teacher not eligible to apply to the Sick Leave Bank may be reviewed by the Superintendent and Board for special consideration. B. Xxxx leave shall be granted to a teacher in the following circumstances with administrative approval: 1. Personal illness or disability 2. When the mental or emotional condition of the teacher might be detrimental to the welfare of the students or the teacher.

ILLNESS AND DISABILITY. ‌ A. At the beginning of each work year, each twelve (12) month bargaining unit member shall be credited with twelve (12) days of sick leave and each school year bargaining unit member shall be credited with ten (10) days of sick leave. Part-time staff will be prorated sick leave days according to their full-time equivalency; i.e., half time pro-ration would equal ten (10) half days. Unused sick days will carry over at the same proportionate rate. Sick leave shall accumulate from year to year to a maximum of 130 days. The Employer shall furnish each bargaining unit member with a written statement at the beginning of each school year of the total accumulated sick leave credit. B. A bargaining unit member who is absent due to an injury which is compensable under Worker’s Compensation may use his/her accumulated sick leave on a proportional basis, to supplement the benefit received from Worker’s Compensation, such that the amount of expendable income the bargaining unit member receives from Worker’s Compensation and sick leave does not exceed the amount of expendable income the bargaining unit member would have received from his/her regular salary amount according to his/her placement on the salary schedule at the time of the injury. Should this supplemental payment be found to be subject to the coordination requirements of Workers Compensation, such that the amount of the Worker’s Compensation benefit is reduced, the bargaining unit member shall not be allowed to use sick leave and shall receive only the Worker’s Compensation benefit provided by that statute.
