Shift Extension Overtime. (a) An employee who is required to work overtime immediately preceding or following the completion of a regular shift, shall be paid at the rate of one and one-half (1½) time his/her regular straight-time hourly rate for the first (2) hours worked, and two (2) times his/her regular straight-time hourly rate for all overtime worked beyond two (2) hours. (b) An employee who is required to work overtime immediately following the completion of his/her regular shift on a public holiday, shall be paid at the rate of rate of two (2) times his/her regular straight-time hourly rate for the first two (2) hours worked and two and one-half (2½) times his/her regular straight-time hourly rate for all overtime worked beyond two (2) hours. (c) When computing the payment of overtime of an employee under this Clause, all time worked by such employee from the time the employee completes his/her regular shift until he/she returns (if the duties required the employee to leave his/her regular place of work) to his/her regular place of work (e.g., the Fire Hall at which the employee is stationed) and has been relieved of further duties, shall be deemed to be overtime. Overtime shall be calculated on the basis of quarter hours; in the event of overtime worked exceeding a quarter hour, such overtime shall be calculated based on the next highest quarter hour.
Shift Extension Overtime a. Any additional hours worked directly before or after a regular shift, with no gap in time in between, will follow extension pay rules. This is true regardless of whether the “regular” shift was part of the Employee’s bid line or traded into. The first four hours will be paid at time and a half, any additional hours will be paid at double. This is true whether the extension is before or after the regular or traded into shift, so long as there is no gap in time in between. If there is an extension to an overtime shift, any time beyond the first eight (8) or ten (10) hours worked will be paid at double-time, regardless of the order of time-stamps. In the event of a Shift extension beginning after midnight, the extension will fall under the pay period of the date the extension itself begins.
Shift Extension Overtime. Overtime, which is the extension of a shift at its end, is not to be treated as call-out or scheduled overtime but rather paid pursuant to the provisions of Article 11.0. An extension of the beginning of a shift shall not be treated as a call-out and paid accordingly.
