Common use of SHORT-CIRCUITING AND GROUNDING Clause in Contracts

SHORT-CIRCUITING AND GROUNDING. The conductors on which work is to be performed shall be short-circuited and grounded throughout the work period. Before grounding any part of the circuit, the Contractor shall make sure, by proper test that the conductors have been isolated, are not energized and are at ground potential. If there is any question of safely establishing the break in the circuit and making ground connection, the Contractor shall request the utility to arrange to have the service de-energized. At all times, it shall be the responsibility of the Contractor to provide protection for its workers against accidental contact with energized equipment.
