Small Core Approximation Sample Clauses

Small Core Approximation. ‌ The electrons in DFT can be separated into two broad groups. Firstly, there are localized electrons confined to a relatively small inner-core region whose one-electron eigenfunctions ψα = ϕc are approximately equal to those of an isolated atom. These electrons move rigidly with the nuclei. Secondly, there are valence electrons whose eigenfunctions ψα = ψk are concentrated in the interstitial regions. Under the small core approximation [93], we treat these two classes of electrons separately. This sepa- ration is not always easy or possible. For the simple metals of primary interest in this thesis, this distinction is sharp and the small-core approximation gives rise to negligible errors. The simple metal core is defined to be the last complete noble gas configura- tion. The valence electrons are the remaining Z electrons which can be read off from their periodic table group. On the other hand, the small-core approximation yields non-negligible errors for the noble or transition metals. The filled or partially-filled d bands overlap significantly with neighbouring cores and cannot be simply incorporated into the valence. The core eigenfunctions obey the following Schrödinger equation Σ − 2m∇ + VKS (r)Σ ϕc (r) = Ecϕc (r) (2.39) where Ec is the eigenvalue of the core state c. Whilst the core eigenfunctions ϕc resemble those of the free atom very closely, the eigenvalues Ec are shifted. The valence eigenstates ψk obey the following Schrödinger equation Σ ℏ2 2 − 2m∇ + VKS (r)Σ ψk (r) = Ekψk (r) (2.40) where k is a wavevector and {ψk} are orthogonal to the core electrons {ϕc}. The valence orbitals ψk are Xxxxx wavefunctions and thus can be written as ψk (r) = eik·ruk (r) (2.41)

  • Budget Impact The rental fee provided for in the agreement is for One Hundred Seventy dollars ($170.00) per month. This is a total annual airport revenue of $2,040.00.

  • Utilization Scale STATE shall scale logs or portions of logs that are broken, wasted, or not removed by PURCHASER due to: (1) improper felling or bucking of the logs; (2) failure to remove the logs prior to deterioration; and (3) logs remaining on the timber sale area after completion of logging, provided the logs were merchantable prior to breakage or wastage. Material used to meet down material requirements in the section titled, "Reserved Timber," shall not be considered for utilization scale. PURCHASER shall pay for the logs at the contract price designated in Section 44. STATE shall notify PURCHASER of the volume of logs so scaled. Payment shall be considered due on such volume as if the logs were removed on the date of said notification. In the event PURCHASER disagrees with the findings made by STATE under this section, PURCHASER may furnish scaling by a third-party scaling organization acceptable to STATE. Costs and expenses of such third party shall be paid for by PURCHASER, and the findings of the third party shall be final.

  • Budget Narrative Services are strictly paid as cost reimbursement. No funds will be paid for services not provided.

  • Bilingual Differential When formally assigned in the employee’s position description, an employee assigned to interpret to or from another language to English will receive a differential of five percent (5%) of base pay.

  • Reporting Model 1 FFI The term Reporting Model 1 FFI means a Financial Institution with respect to which a non-U.S. government or agency thereof agrees to obtain and exchange information pursuant to a Model 1 IGA, other than a Financial Institution treated as a Nonparticipating Financial Institution under the Model 1 IGA. For purposes of this definition, the term Model 1 IGA means an arrangement between the United States or the Treasury Department and a non-U.S. government or one or more agencies thereof to implement FATCA through reporting by Financial Institutions to such non-U.S. government or agency thereof, followed by automatic exchange of such reported information with the IRS.

  • National Treatment on Internal Taxation and Regulation Each Party shall accord national treatment to the goods of the other Parties in accordance with Article III of GATT 1994. To this end, Article III of GATT 1994 shall be incorporated into and shall form part of this Agreement, mutatis mutandis.

  • Budget Categories Use the first column only (Column 1) to report the budget category breakouts (Lines 6a through 6h) and indirect charges (Line 6j) for the total funding requested for the first year of your project only.

  • Preceptor Differential The Hospital shall pay a differential of $1.50 per hour to a nurse who is designated by nursing management to serve as a preceptor to provide on-the-job training to newly hired nurses. One differential will be paid per shift per orientee to the primary preceptor for all hours served as the primary preceptor for that shift. Preceptor will only be paid while the newly hired nurse is in a one-to-one status. Preceptor is a voluntary assignment and the nurse has the option to refuse the preceptor assignment.

  • Leadwork Differential (a) Leadwork differential shall be defined as a differential for employees who have been formally assigned by their supervisor in writing, “leadwork” duties for ten (10) consecutive calendar days (or the equivalent thereof for alternate or flexible schedules) or longer provided the leadwork or team leader duties are not included in the classification specification for the employee’s position. Leadwork is where, on a recurring daily basis, the employee has been directed to perform substantially all of the following functions: to orient new employees, if appropriate; assign and reassign tasks to accomplish prescribed work efficiently; give direction to workers concerning work procedures; transmit established standards of performance to workers; review work of employees for conformance to standards; and provide informal assessment of workers’ performance to the supervisor.

  • Internal Taxation 1. The Parties shall refrain from any measure or practice of an internal fiscal nature establishing, whether directly or indirectly, discrimination between the products of one Party and like products originating in the other Party.
