Standby Definition. “Standby” is defined as being available via Pager, Telephone, Radio, or other agreeable means to receive notification of an emergency incident or an accident involving Fire Department personnel in order to make a determination of the appropriate follow up action whether to respond to the scene or provide direction to individual(s) on what to do.
