Common use of Suspension Pending Investigation Clause in Contracts

Suspension Pending Investigation. An employee who is suspected of having committed an offense which warrants severe discipline may be suspended with pay for up to thirty (30) working days pending completion of an investigation of the matter. The time limit may be extended an additional ten (10) working days due to unforeseeable circumstances not caused by the Employer or the Union. If the Employer then determines that the discharge is not warranted or that disciplinary action less than discharge is warranted, a non• probationary employee shall be reinstated without loss of accrued seniority and, if lesser discipline is imposed, may grieve the lesser discipline in accordance with Article XXII.
