Common use of TEACHING HOURS AND ASSIGNMENTS Clause in Contracts

TEACHING HOURS AND ASSIGNMENTS. A. A certified employee who is assigned to a class that requires the forfeiture of his/her preparation period shall be compensated using the hourly rate as defined in Appendix A. Dollar amounts shall be determined for the actual length of the elementary, middle school, and high school classes. When teachers of high- school seniors have no students (due to exams and early dismissal/graduation) and are asked or volunteer to cover the classes of colleagues, they will not be compensated. Each school shall maintain a certified employee substitute volunteer sign up list for internal substitutions that take place on their preparation period. This list will be used to determine each volunteer’s availability to fill an absence. A certified employee may not be assigned to a class during their preparation period, without exhausting the volunteer list first.
