Temporary Assignments to Higher Classification. Temporary work assignments at a higher classification on day-to-day basis are required to provide for vacation, illness, or other operational requirements. Employees shall be required to accept such temporary work assignments unless they have submitted a written request, prior to the work assignment, stating their desires not to work above their own classification. Request to not work above their own classification will be honored, except in emergencies (as declared by the department or assistant department head), for a minimum period of one year at which time the employee shall be notified that he/she has thirty (30) calendar days to withdraw his/her statement. Failure to withdraw his/her statement shall extend the statement for one additional year. Any written statements withdrawn cannot be resubmitted for the term of this written Agreement. Pay for work above classifications shall be in accordance with Article 8, Section 4.
Temporary Assignments to Higher Classification. Employees may be assigned to temporarily fill positions that are in a higher range classification than their permanent assignment. After five (5) working days in the temporary assignment, the employee shall be placed on the range of the employee whose position is being filled on the lowest step with a pay rate greater than or equal to the rate the temporarily assigned employee was paid on the wage schedule in his/her regular assignment. The employee shall then be compensated at this higher rate of pay for the balance of the assignment. Placement on the higher classification will be at the higher range and at a step that guarantees the employee at least a 5% increase over their current hourly rate. In cases where the number of hours is more in the higher position, the employee shall be paid for the additional hours at the higher hourly rate.
Temporary Assignments to Higher Classification. Employees may be temporarily assigned all of the duties and responsibilities of a higher graded position for reasons deemed appropriate by the appointing authority. An employee so assigned shall be notified in writing at the beginning of the assignment as to the anticipated duration of the temporary promotion, and the wage rate to be received during the temporary promotion.
Temporary Assignments to Higher Classification. Employees may be temporarily assigned the responsibilities of a higher graded position for reasons deemed appropriate by the appointing authority. An employee so assigned shall be notified in writing at the beginning of the assignment as to the anticipated duration of the temporary promotion. The employee will return to his/her former position and salary at the end of the temporary promotion. Employees temporarily assigned to a position which is one grade higher than their present position shall be paid at their current market ratio in the higher grade. Employees assigned to a position which is more than one grade higher than their present position shall receive a five percent (5%) per grade salary increase. Employees may be temporarily assigned to a higher graded position in accordance with this section for up to three (3) consecutive working days before becoming eligible to receive a temporary salary increase. Employees assigned to a higher graded position in excess of three (3) consecutive working days shall receive the temporary salary increase effective the first day in the higher graded position.
