Temporary Protection and Direction of Traffic. (TP&DT) This task includes design and preparation of documents for the 90%, and 100% submittals. The City will select a construction staging alternative, following the City’s review of the memo prepared in subtask 5.3; the Consultant shall prepare plans based on that selection. The plans must include, as applicable, construction signing, temporary alignments and surfaces, temporary striping, pavement markings and barrier placement. Consultant shall prepare and submit drawings that show conceptual construction sequence for the Project and identify potential impacts to right-of-way and utilities. The TP&DT plans must indicate lane lines, lane widths, lane drops, speed reductions, tapers, and turn movement arrows and storage at intersections. Consultant shall prepare Project specific special provisions and construction cost estimate associated with the TP&DT plan development. The special provisions shall include lane closure time restrictions that minimize disruption to businesses and nearby residences. Contractor shall prepare a draft and final memorandum summarizing up to two (2) traffic control alternatives, assessments and recommended strategies for construction staging to complete the necessary work elements at the Xxxx Road and Xxxxxxx Boulevard intersection. Items considered as part of the alternative analysis include:  Duration of construction and cost  Construction schedule (night work, extended hours, etc.)  Traffic volumes  Utility installation  Pedestrian and vehicular detour routes  Impact to vehicles/pedestrians/bicycles/transit/neighborhood  Driveway/alley/business access  Business access to school and hospital  Safety during construction (public and contractor)  Quality of finished product  Cost  Constructability Staging alternatives to be considered include:  Staged construction (i.e. half-street closure, construction by quadrant)  Full-intersection closure The Contractor will work with the City on selection of one (1) traffic control alternative to use as the basis for development of the plans. The plans must include, as applicable, construction signing, temporary alignments and surfaces, temporary striping, pavement markings and barrier placement. Consultant shall prepare and submit drawings that show conceptual construction sequence for the Project and identify potential impacts to right-of-way and utilities. The TP&DT plans must indicate lane lines, lane widths, lane drops, speed reductions, tapers, and turn movement arrows and storage at intersections.
