TENURE ACT. As stated in the Michigan Teachers’ Tenure Act (MTTA), no employee shall terminate his/her services with the Board during the current school year except by mutual agreement. Employees who do not provide notice of intent to resign at least 60 days before the beginning of the school year are subject to forfeiture of tenure status. The same notice requirement applies to non-tenure (i.e., ancillary staff) bargaining unit employees.
