Therapy Canine Pay. The parties agree that one half-hour per day, outside of their regularly scheduled workday, is a reasonable amount of time for employees assigned to handle a canine as part of the Town’s Therapy Canine Program to care for their canines off duty. Therefore, effective the first full pay period after July 1, 2024, an employee assigned to handle a canine under the Police Department’s Therapy Canine Program shall receive one half hour of pay per day, totaling seven hours per pay period, at an hourly rate of one- and one-half times the state minimum wage. As of January 1, 2024, the California state minimum wage is $16.00 per hour, which would equate to a therapy canine payment of one hundred and sixty-eight dollars ($168) per pay period.
