Special Pays. Special pay shall be provided to employees as follows:
Special Pays. Officers are limited to one special assignment pay or canine pay. Officers who qualify for bilingual pay may receive bilingual pay in addition to a special assignment pay or canine.
Special Pays. A. Employees shall not be deemed eligible to receive such pay until they have successfully completed their one (1) year probationary period.
B. Employees in the job classes listed in Appendix W who acquire and maintain the corresponding certificates as listed will be paid two and one-half percent (2.5%) of their base salary. Where more than one certificate is listed per job class, no stacking of payments will be made (no additional payment will be made for a second certificate by an employee). Exception: Communications Supervisor and Dispatcher I and Dispatcher II hired on or before October 1, 2013 who currently are paid for Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) Certificates will also be eligible for one (1) additional certificate as listed in Appendix W. Dispatcher I and Dispatcher II employees hired between 10/1/13 to 12/1/17, who possess an EMD certificate, are eligible for one (1) additional certificate pay as listed in Appendix W. Employees hired after 12/1/2017 are not eligible for EMD certificate pay. Employees must be using the referenced certificate as part of their primary job assignment.
C. Employees promoting into supervisory positions are eligible to retain a lower level certification pay for a maximum of two (2) years following promotion or employment into an eligible position or until eligible for the Supervisory POST certificate, whichever comes first.
D. Employees who possess certificates are responsible for submitting their certificate with the corresponding Personnel Action Form in order to be paid the two and one-half percent (2.5%) stated above.
Special Pays. Special pay shall be provided to members as follows:
A. Members assigned to canine duty shall receive additional compensation bi-weekly equal to 5% of base wage as compensation for on and off duty time authorized and expended, as well as for reimbursement of canine related expenses. This additional compensation is granted in recognition of the personal monetary investment, duties and responsibilities of the canine assignment, including time spent by the employee while on or off duty in the care and maintenance of the assigned canine. This extra compensation is not to be considered base pay, premium pay, nor shall it be included for purposes of retirement benefit calculations or contributions.
B. Members assigned to Field Training Officer or Field Training Sergeant responsibilities shall receive premiums of $250.00 biweekly and $225.00 biweekly respectively, while training.
C. Members assigned to the Bomb Squad or the SWAT team shall receive a premium of 5% biweekly. Members assigned to both the Bomb Squad and the Swat Team shall receive a premium of five percent for one of the two assignments, but not both.
D. Members assigned to Motorcycle and Honda units shall continue to receive a premium in an amount in accord with current practice pursuant to Charter section A8.405(b).
E. Effective July 1, 2002, employees who have completed twenty-five (25) years or more of service as a sworn member of the Department or Airport Bureau shall receive 2% retention pay. Retention pay shall be included for purposes of retirement benefit calculations and contributions. Further, it is the parties’ understanding that this benefit is part of the salary attached to all ranks for members who have completed twenty-five (25) years or more of sworn service covered by this Agreement.
F. Members assigned to the Airport Bureau who perform Airport Canine/Bomb Detection work shall receive a premium of $105.00 biweekly. Such members shall receive this premium rather than the premiums set forth in MOU Section 13.A and/or 13.C.
G. On-Call Premium Members, who as part of the duties of their positions are required by the Chief of the Department or designee to be on-call when normally off duty and to be instantly available to return to work to perform their duties, shall be paid a premium at the rate equivalent to three (3) hours of their regular base rate of pay for each assignment of on-call duty. The duration of the assignments shall be determined by the Chief of the Department or designee...
Special Pays. All special pays will be paid in the first pay period in December of each year. All special pays will be pro-rated based on the contract year and the portion of that year that the employee was in the position that entitles the employee to the special pay.
Special Pays. 1.) Special pays shall be processed as part of the employee’s regular bi-weekly paycheck in the pay period following the approval of the special pay request, unless determined otherwise by the City for operational efficiency. This includes, but shall not be limited to: Auto Allowance, State Disability Insurance fee reimbursement, Bilingual Pay, Acting Pay, Vacation, Sick-Leave and other leave pay-offs.

Special Pays. When U.S. forces are deployed to a potentially hostile environment, they may be eligible for additional compensation such as imminent Danger/Hostile Fire pay and Family Separation Allowance. Generally, these benefits are paid on a monthly basis whether the forces are utilized for one day or thirty days. As some forces may be performing evacuation responsibilities one day (or shift, flight) mid protection requirements the next tracking, collecting, and reporting such data for reimbursement would be difficult to segregate and verify.
