Associated improvements as part of these projects will include, when applicable: permanent traffic signalization system improvements, permanent traffic signing, permanent pavement markings, construction traffic control, con- struction phasing, incidental drainage, sidewalk, identification of additional right-of-way and furnishing tract draw- ings and legal descriptions for such right-of-way. The ENGINEER shall furnish engineering services as required for the best and most cost effective design for the development of the project and provide project alternatives where applicable, including landscaping and beautifi- cation provisions on streets where appropriate in available right-of-way; the project plans; supplemental specifica- tions; quantities of work; and estimates of the cost for the PROJECT in the format and detail required by the City Engineer for the City of Wichita; and the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT); and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, or any other regulatory agency, when applicable. The project alternatives, including proposed land- scaping, are to be presented to the City’s Design Council, when directed by the Design Engineer, for concurrence in selection prior to progressing to detailed aspects of the work. ENGINEER should use plant material that is drought resistant and requires low maintenance in a xeriscape concept, and is consistent with the City of Wichita Landscape Policy for Arterial Streets. A landscape architect should be included on the ENGINEER’s Design Team. The ENGINEER should identify all trees that may be in conflict or jeopardy of damage by construction activities and then review with Park Department to determine if the trees can be saved and/or moved. In addition, the EN- GINEER will notify the City Archaeologist at 000-000-0000 prior to beginning work on this project. All references below to KDOT only apply to State and Federal Aid projects.
